São Paulo, May 21th, 2020- A pioneer in the production of biodiesel in Brazil, businessman Erasmo Carlos Battistella launches today the blog “Biocombustível Advanced” (www.biocombustivelavancado.com.br). Its objective is to expand the debate and knowledge about new biofuels, such as HVO (for cargo and passenger transport) and SPK (renewable aviation kerosene), which are still little known in Brazil, but which are emerging as great allies combating climate warming and pollution in major cities on the planet.

\"I decided to create this blog because I felt the need to increase the debate on biofuels made from waste oils (UCO), animal fats and vegetable oils with an impressive impact in reducing pollution and, consequently, in the population`s health\", says the businessman. Battistella`s ECB Group leads Omega Green, a complex for the production of HVO and SPK in Paraguay, with an estimated investment of more than US $ 800 million. It will be the first second generation renewable fuel plant in the Southern Hemisphere.
Most of the Omega Green production will be exported to countries that are signatories to the Paris Agreement, which need to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the substitution of petroleum products. The project is supported by the Paraguayan government.

Battistella founded the company BSBIOS in April 2005 to produce biodiesel, installing a modern plant strategically located in Passo Fundo (RS), close to the production of its main sources of raw material.

With another plant, in Marialva (PR), BSBIOS became the largest producer of biodiesel in Brazil, according to data published by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). It was the first company in the country to export biodiesel and maintains commercial relations with 32 countries. Revenue last year reached R $ 3.34 billion, an increase of 6.2% compared to 2018.

Battistella is also the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Biofuel Producers in Brazil (APROBIO), leading the defense of the sector in the development of a national biofuel policy. “I want to share my experiences through this new communication channel and build a journey of reflection and knowledge about what is most advanced in bioenergy to build a better and more sustainable world. I count on everyone who wants to contribute to this journey and together build a legacy for future generations ”, adds the businessman.
